Obtained professional misconduct findings for lack of informed consent and deficient records
The Discipline Panel found that Dr. Bajwa committed professional misconduct by administering general anesthesia to a dog without first obtaining the owners’ informed consent; the dog’s heart rate subsequently dropped and the dog died. The Panel also found professional misconduct arising from deficient medical records, specifically failures to document discussions concerning fasting and bloodwork, the owners’ refusal of recommended bloodwork, and important details of the resuscitation efforts.
